If the document calls for it, you might be required to swear or affirm that the contents of the documents are true. lastly, you sign the Notary’s journal and provide your thumbprint if the notarization relates to real estate or a Power of Attorney. The notarization is then complete!
Do All Parties Named in the Document Need to Be Present?
No. Notaries are able to conduct “split signings” where they meet with one person first and the other person named in a document at another location. Documents can even be shipped to another state to be completed by a notary of that state if signers do not live in the same area.
